Corbett Le Quesne is delighted to announce that Advocate Kate Donohue has been appointed to the Public Law Children Panel. This is a very important and specialist role. Members of the children panel represent individuals involved in public law proceedings when the Court is making decisions regarding the safety and welfare of children and young people who are most at risk.
Kate completed her training course locally before having to work through various case studies and pass an interview. Following completion of the accreditation process her membership of the panel was approved meaning Kate is now able to represent children, on the instruction of the Guardian or independently, or parents of a relative who wish to be considered as a primary carer in relation to public law proceedings.
Kate is an experienced children's lawyer having worked in the UK as a family solicitor and barrister for many years before moving to Jersey. Kate was called to the Jersey bar in January this year having joined Corbett Le Quesne in April 2022.
Advocate Kate Donohue joins Advocates Barbara Corbett and Nicholas Le Quesne, partners of Corbett Le Quesne on the children panel. Advocate Corbett commented: “We are very pleased that Kate is joining us on the panel. She is an excellent children’s lawyer and her skills and experience will be much appreciated.”
