The 2024 Family Law Conference was once again a huge success with sunshine and laughter filling the beautiful surroundings of the L'Horizon Hotel. Additions to this year's schedule included a beach football match and a surprise fireshow at night on the beach outside the hotel.
Women in Family Law (WiFL)
We hosted a Women in Family Law Event. This year the speaker was local coach from People Like Me, Dr Julie Luscombe who focused on the burnout professionals can experience.
Beach football
This year for the first time the family law firm added a beach football match to the weekend’s events. This was a huge success with founding partner Advocate Nick Le Quesne scoring two of the six goals, along with James Evans and Paul Harris. Thanks to Jason Roukin, a clerk from 4KBW chambers in London, for his keen goalkeeping skills.
Entertainment
THE JERSEY SHOWMAN delighted everyone with his spectacular fire show on the beach. Thank you to David Lillywhite for this really incredible photographs.
Weekend events
We held a drinks event at the Yard on Thursday evening. This was sponsored by 17 sets of chambers and everyone had a lovely evening.
Unfortunately the RIB trip on Saturday was cancelled due to the blowy weather even though it was still a lovely day.
Why we do it
Advocate Barbara Corbett commented:
"The ticket cost of many conferences now is very high and this can be a barrier to face to face meetings, the exchange of information and the development of the law. Advocate Corbett said “We endeavour to keep our family and child conferences as affordable as possible. While the costs of running an event have gone up we are lucky to be able to offer such a superb event at a reasonable cost thanks to our loyal and lovely sponsors, through Lizzie’s hard work, and the generosity of our speakers giving their time for free.” She continued “Jersey once again proved a fantastic venue for an international conference. We attend various conferences both here and around the world and it really makes us proud that this conference is always so well received.”
