Our Senior Partner, Advocate Barbara Corbett, is taking part in the IAFL Annual Meeting in Tokyo next week.
Advocate Corbett is a Fellow of the International Academy of Family Lawyers.
The IAFL is a worldwide association of practising lawyers who are recognised by their peers as the most experienced and skilled family law specialists in their respective countries. Membership is by invitation only.
The Annual Meeting will feature talks from members of the international family law world on a variety of topics, including regional approaches to the resolution of cross jurisdictional financial disputes.
There will also be talks on religious divorces, Jewish and Muslim in particular, with a focus on their recognition abroad, and associated issues.
Another interesting talk will be on the international recovery of child maintenance in Europe and worldwide.
Advocate Corbett commented: “I am very much looking forward to taking part in this conference. The IAFL events are always excellent forums for knowledge building and sharing and indeed for networking with colleagues from other jurisdictions. In the globalised world of today, relationships too are becoming ever more complex with marriages and children disputes often stretching across borders and jurisdictional boundaries. It is for this reason that attendance at events such as this is crucial for our professional development. ”
The event is scheduled to take place from 31 May- 2nd June.
